Christmas in the Lake District

Experience a magical, stress-free Christmas in the beautiful Lake District, with festive dining, scenic excursions, cosy hotel comforts and joyful seasonal activities throughout this wonderfully relaxing holiday.

NEWBY BRIDGE HOTEL, ULVERTSON ***

This historic 18th century hotel overlooks the river Levern and offers wonderful views across the southern shores of Lake Windermere and is located around 5-minute walk from Finsthwaite Heights. What better way to unwind after enjoying a day out is to relax in the hotel’s indoor swimming pool, steam room or spa bath. All bedrooms have ensuite facilities with bath and shower, a hospitality tray, TV, radio, direct dial telephone and hairdryer. You can also upgrade your bedroom (subject to availability). The Garden view restaurant overlooks the Mediterranean gardens. The hotel also has a bar lounge area in which to relax and enjoy a drink or two!

Day 1

We depart the home area and travel to Lichfield for lunch and time to browse. Continue to the hotel for tea or coffee on arrival. Time to settle in and freshen up for dinner.

Day 2

Christmas Eve
This morning, enjoy a scenic drive alongside Lake Windermere with a stop in Bowness, opportunity to visit The World of Beatrix Potter or take a boat trip (extra cost). Continue to Ambleside located on the heart of Windermere’s northern shore with cosy cafes and shops before returning to our hotel for mulled wine, mince pies, dinner and evening parlour games.

Day 3

Christmas Day
Start Christmas Day with breakfast and Buck’s Fizz, followed by time to relax or attend a local church service before our traditional four-course lunch, watch the King’s speech with tea and mince pies, then enjoy a Christmas buffet in the evening.

Day 4

Boxing Day
After breakfast, visit Kendal with time to explore the shops and enjoy lunch. Return to our hotel for tea and Christmas cake, followed by dinner and a Boxing Day quiz.

Day 5

After breakfast we return to home area stopping enroute at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.
