Join us on this holiday to Tiverton in South Devon. Tiverton is blessed with some unique attractions. It is home to the award-winning Grand Western Canal Country Park which was established in 1971. One of the last remaining horse drawn barges in the country. The town center is proud of its independent traders with four retail quarters full of interesting shops to discover.

Day 1

We depart from our home area and make our way to Marlborough, a delightful cosmopolitan town in Wiltshire. It is a great place for shopping and has a wide choice of tea rooms, restaurants, and pubs to obtain lunch before rejoining the coach to our hotel in Tiverton. Upon arrival enjoy a cup of tea whilst your luggage is taken to your bedroom. Time to relax before your evening meal.

Day 2

Today enjoy a morning free in Tiverton. The town center is a 20-minute walk from the hotel or join your coach at 10am when your coach driver will happily drive you into the town centre. In the afternoon join your Tour Manager for a gentle cruise along the 11.5 miles stretch of the Grand Western Canal by horse-drawn barge. It is approx. 10 minutes' walk from your hotel. During the horse-drawn barge journey you will hear some tales about the canal and often there is a minute's silence so you can experience the true peace and tranquility of travelling by horse-drawn barge. We return to our hotel for an included cream tea.

Day 3

After breakfast we travel to Bishops Lydeard to join the West Somerset Railway, Britain's longest steam railway, at Bishops Lydeard for a scenic ride through the Quantock Hills to the seaside resort of Minehead. Time at leisure in Minehead, to explore the charming harbour, wonderful long flat sandy beach, bustling town centre with independent shops before rejoining your coach and returning to your hotel via Exmoor National Park. Look out for the Exmoor ponies.

Day 4

After breakfast we travel to the beautiful coastal town of Sidmouth which has a regency feel, a lovely beach with glorious red sand, a great place to shop and eat. We then drive along the south coast to Exmouth, at the mouth of the beautiful Exe estuary, a bustling little town with a vibrant shopping centre, take a walk along the promenade and enjoy an ice cream.

Day 5

Today we say farewell to South Devon and travel through the Mendip Hills and make our first refreshment stop at Cheddar Gorge before continuing our homeward journey making a suitable comfort stop for lunch enroute.

TIVERTON HOTEL LOUNGE & VENUE, TIVERTON, DEVON ****

The Tiverton hotel is set in 2 acres of mature gardens and is approx. 20-minute walk to the town centre. The hotel has free Wi-Fi and bar/lounge area. The Gallery restaurant serves traditional cuisine using fresh local produce. Cream tea will be served in the cosy lounge bar.
