Prepare to be awestruck by the UKs must see spectacular live action outdoor theatre show. Set in a 7½ acre stage presented by 1,500 cast and crew alongside horses, sheep, oxen, donkeys, goats and geese, the scale of the show must be seen to be believed. Immerse yourself in a tale of Englands 2000 year-old history, Kynren brings to life the story of invasions, royal splendour, wars, heroic sacrifice, daily life and seismic change. Set to original soundtrack, this enthralling spectacle will take you on a thrilling journey with dazzling pyrotechnics, beautiful choreography, amazing stunts and masterly horsemanship. This epic show is simply breath-taking so prepare to be spellbound!
Day 1
Depart home area and head northwards making suitable comfort stops along the way, we stop in Wetherby for lunch to be purchased.
DDay 2
After breakfast travel to the city of Durham, home to the majestic Durham Cathedral (free admission but a donation of £5pp is welcome). We then return to our hotel for an early dinner and time to freshen up and get ready for our evening ahead. We depart for ‘Kynren - an epic tale of England’, Bishop Auckland’s live action extravaganza. We’ll meet many of the characters and see events that have shaped the north east - and the country as a whole - as the 29 scenes, encompassing the Roman occupation to World War II, unfold in front of our eyes.
B, DDay 3
Visit the world famous Beamish Open-Air Museum, telling the story of life in North East England during the 1820’s, 1900s & 1940s. There’s an accessible bus which provides transport around the site. Time here to purchase lunch. Return to the hotel later where we will stop on route at the Angel of the North for a photograph opportunity. The sculpture was installed in February 1998 and over the last twenty years has become one of the most recognisable pieces of public art ever produced, winning many accolades and awards.
B, DDay 4
After breakfast we travel back home making suitable comfort stops along the way, including a stop in Stamford for lunch to be purchased.

This 4-star hotel always offers a warm welcome. It is located in Newcastle Quayside, right in the heart of the city and an approx. 20-minute walk to the city centre. The Quay 7 restaurant is synonymous with freshly cooked and delicious local, international, and classic British cuisine and boasts an outstanding waterfront view. Most bedrooms boast wonderful river views from the large bay windows and are comfortable and well decorated. There is a bar/lounge area in which to relax and enjoy a pre-dinner drink.
Please note this hotel does not have rooms with walk-in showers.

*Please note: All visitors at Kynren will enter through security/ ticket checks followed by approx. 350m walk (with not many benches) to the Tribune. Kirbys must be told in advance if you are bringing a wheelchair. The show lasts for approximately 90 minutes. The entire seating is outdoors so suitable clothing is recommended; ponchos will be available to purchase. Umbrellas are not allowed during the performance. No performance has been cancelled due to the weather.
