Day 1
UK to Germany
Cross the channel and travel through France and Belgium making suitable refreshment stops, arrive at our overnight hotel in Weisbaden late afternoon, with time to freshen up before our evening meal.
Day 2
Germany to Passau
After breakfast we travel through Germany making refreshment stops and arrive in Passau just across the Austrian border for embarkation of our cruise vessel mid-afternoon.
Day 3
Passau to Vienna
We cruise to Vienna arriving approx. 2pm. Afternoon at leisure. Afternoon enjoy dinner followed by a night of entertainment.
Optional Extra: Concert at the Kursalon - Enjoy a magical evening of classical music in one of Vienna’s most beautiful venues. Featuring works by Strauss and Mozart, performed by the renowned Alt Wien orchestra, with opera singers and ballet soloists. Must be booked at time of booking. A truly unforgettable experience (£89pp to be made at time of booking).
Day 4
Vienna to Esztergorm
After breakfast, enjoy a roundtrip through historic Vienna. Drive along the Ringstrasse, passing landmarks such as the State Opera, Hofburg Palace, Parliament, and more. See the Prater and Ferris Wheel, Hundertwasser House, St. Charles's Church, and the Viennese Music Association. Visit St. Stephen's Cathedral before returning to the ship.
Day 5
Esztergom to Budapest
After breakfast, a mini train takes us to the summit of Esztergom Castle, offering stunning views of Hungary’s largest neoclassical basilica. Admire its vast green dome, grand altar, and the world’s largest painting on a single canvas. Enjoy fascinating insights into the city before returning to the ship. After breakfast, we take a tour of Budapest by night, where the "Queen of the Danube" shows her sparkling side. Already a feast for the eyes during the day, its sights, illuminated in the dark, are hard to beat in terms of beauty. Enjoy the trip along the Danube to Batthyány Square. When you stop opposite the Parliament building, the Danube and the Pest district lie as a glittering carpet at your feet (1.5 hour guided tour, £45pp to be made at time of booking).
Day 6
Budapest to Bratislava
This morning after breakfast enjoy a 3.5 hour guided city tour. Sit back and relax onboard the coach while the highlights of Budapest pass us by: the Millennium Monument on the spacious Heroes' Square, the magnificent opera, the former stock exchange and the imposing parliament building. Here you start a short walking tour, continuing to St. Stephen's Basilica, the largest church in the Hungarian capital, which is an UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the Danube panorama. There is much to discover in this lively city! We return to our ship for lunch before our ship sails for Bratislava.
Day 7
Bratislava to Krems
After breakfast, we take a short walk into Bratislava. Discover Renaissance townhouses, baroque palaces, and modern statues dotted throughout the charming old town. There are plenty of eateries and wonderful shops to explore. Later, return to the ship for lunch.
Day 8
Krems to Melk Abbey to Passau
After breakfast, we leave the ship at Krems and join our coach for a scenic tour of Dürnstein and Artstetten Castle. Explore the medieval charm of Dürnstein with its colourful houses, narrow streets, and iconic blue tower. Stroll through the historic old town before travelling past vineyards through the beautiful Wachau Valley. At Artstetten Castle, once the summer residence of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, discover grand rooms, peaceful gardens, and the fascinating history of this impressive hilltop estate overlooking the Danube.
Day 9
Passau to Germany
We disembark our ship after breakfast and make our way to our overnight hotel in Wiesbaden, Germany, in time to freshen up before our evening meal.
Day 10
Germany to UK
Depart after breakfast and make our way home with suitable refreshment stops along the way.
