Black Forest Christmas Markets

Traditional Christmas markets take place in many places in the Black Forest every year. The flavour of mulled wine, waffles and fir needles, candlelight and the cozy atmosphere attract guests every year. Besides eating and drinking specialities, you can find lots of local products for Christmas gifts.

Day 1

Travel to Folkestone for our Eurotunnel crossing to Calais. Making suitable refreshment stops we arrive at the hotel in the Black Forest with time to freshen up before our evening meal.

Day 2

Today, we spend the whole day in Strasbourg, ‘the Capital of Christmas’. Strasbourg Christmas market is the oldest in France, dating back to 1570. Shop windows are transformed into winter wonderlands and the streets are decorated with twinkling lights and festive garlands. You’ll find hundreds of stalls selling ornaments, toys, food, and mulled wine. There are 13 Christmas markets to look around, so remember your walking shoes! Visit Strasbourg Cathedral, an outstanding masterpiece of Gothic art once the tallest building in the world! We return to our hotel for evening meal.

Day 3

We spend today at the bustling city of Freiburg and its Christmas Market, a must-visit destination for anyone seeking an authentic and lively Black Forest Christmas experience. With over 120 stalls, this market offers a vast selection of unique gifts, handmade crafts, and mouth-watering culinary delights. The Freiburg Christmas Market is centred around the city’s historic Rathausplatz. There are numerous shops to visit and restaurants to obtain lunch. Tonight, during your evening meal, your escort will entertain you with a Christmas quiz.

Day 4

This morning, we visit the famous spa town of Baden- Baden. The Christmas Market is set against the backdrop of the town’s stunning Kurhaus, a historic spa building that has been transformed into a glittering palace for the holiday season. As you wander through the market, you’ll discover an array of unique gifts and handcrafted items, from hand-painted glass ornaments to artisanal soaps and fragrances. Afterwards we visit the charming town of Gengenbach, often referred to as the ‘Pearl of the Kinzigtal’, and is home to a delightful Christmas market guaranteed to captivate you with its picturesque setting and festive atmosphere. The market is held in front of the town’s magnificent town hall, which transforms into a giant advent calendar where we will see a new window being revealed at 6pm. We make our way back to our hotel afterwards for our evening meal.

Day 5

After breakfast we return to Calais making suitable refreshment stops, for our return Eurotunnel crossing to Folkestone. Arrive back home approx. 9pm.
