York & Scarborough Splendour

Day 1

We depart home area and make our way to the mediaeval picturesque town of Newark for lunch to be obtained. Time to here to look around the many quaint shops before continuing to our hotel in York. Time to relax before our evening meal.

Day 2

Enjoy a day exploring York, opportunity to visit York Minster, one of the largest and most magnificent cathedrals in Northern Europe. The Shambles, a historic street with mediaeval buildings, quaint shops, and charming cafés, often referred to as one of the best-preserved mediaeval shopping streets in Europe. Jorvik Viking Centre, an immersive experience that brings York’s Viking history to life through interactive exhibits and reconstructions. Clifford’s Tower, a historic castle keep offering panoramic views of the city and a fascinating glimpse into York’s medieval past. York Castle Museum showcasing a wide range of exhibits on York’s social history, including recreated Victorian streets and period rooms or take a boat cruise on the River Ouse. Day 3

Today, the choice is ours, we can spend another day in this wonderful city or embark on a coach journey to Yorkshire’s coast to visit the seaside gem of Scarborough offering a delightful mix of seaside charm and modern attractions. South Bay has a bustling promenade lined with cafes and shops. North Bay is known for its more tranquil atmosphere perfect for a peaceful stroll. Scarborough Castle is perched high on the cliffs, this medieval fortress offers panoramic views of the coastline and fascinating insights into the town’s rich history. St. Mary’s Church, a beautiful historic church where Anne Brontë, the famous novelist, is buried. The churchyard offers a quiet spot for reflection with stunning views over the town.

Day 4

After breakfast, we make our way home stopping in delightful Stamford, where many period dramas have been filmed, for lunch to be obtained.
