Springtime in Lake Garda

Day 1

Travel to Folkestone for our Eurotunnel crossing. We then travel through France to our overnight stay making suitable comfort stops. Time to freshen up before our evening meal.

Day 2

After breakfast we depart our hotel and travel through Germany, Austria and over the Europa Bridge and the Brenner Pass into Italy where we will get amazing views of the Alps. We will stop for refreshments enroute arriving at our hotel late afternoon. We meet tonight for a welcome cocktail in the Arrival Hall before dinner.

Day 3

Today we have a day at leisure in Riva del Garda. Here we have the opportunity to take a boat trip on Lake Garda to Limone sul Garda (price not included, approx. €20pp) to look around this beautiful Cliffside town, famous for its Limoncello, then we re-board the boat across the Lake to Malcesine, an elegant resort at the base of Castello Scaligero. Opportunity to take a cable car (price not included) to the summit for spectacular views across the lake and the Dolomites before exploring the cobbled streets of the old town. Time here for lunch to be purchased before the return sailing to Riva Del Garda. For those who do not wish to take part in the additional boat ride, spend the day at leisure looking around Riva del Garda, a charming town which lies on the banks of the northern shores of Lake Garda. There are many independent shops, restaurants and ice cream parlours to visit.

Day 4

After breakfast travel to the romantic city of Verona, the setting of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet (please note there is an approx 20-minute walk into the town from the Coach Park or you can catch a park and ride bus at approx. €8pp extra.) Stumble upon Piazza Brà, a large open space dominated by the imposing Roman Arena. Walk down marble streets to the heart of the town to Piazza Erbe, Verona’s beautiful main square. We must, of course, witness Juliet’s balcony from which Shakespeare’s character reportedly uttered those famous anguished lines. There is so much to see in Verona so we spend the whole day exploring before returning to the hotel for our evening meal.

Day 5

After breakfast we travel alongside Lake Garda to visit the enchanting village of Bardolino. Today is market day*, located on the lakefront with many food and clothing stalls as well as, artisan and local produce stalls. We then travel afterwards to Sirmione, a dramatic setting on the end of a peninsula, its medieval castle and historic centre is one of the loveliest towns on Lake Garda and also one of the most popular towns to visit on the Lake. We the return to our hotel for our evening meal.

Day 6

After breakfast we travel to the enchanting shores of Lake Molveno, often referred as the most beautiful lake in Italy, situated at the bottom of the Brenta Dolomites. Time to take a stroll along the lake and purchase refreshments in one of the local restaurants alongside the lake. We then continue to the amazing city of Trento which offers a mix of historical charm and natural beauty. Opportunity to visit the stunning Cathedral of saint Vigilius, an excellent example of Romanesque architecture. In the Piazza Duomo, the main square, is surrounded by historical buildings and the beautiful Fountain of Neptune. The restaurants offer a unique blend of Italian and Austrian cuisine, reflecting its history and geographical position. A highlight is to try a glass of wine, especially produced from the Trentino region.

Day 7

After breakfast check out of our main stay hotel and return to our overnight in Saarbrücken Sud, Germany, making suitable comfort stops. We arrive with time to freshen up before our evening meal.

Day 8

After breakfast return to Calais for the Eurotunnel crossing, making suitable comfort stops along the way with time to purchase lunch.
