Serenity in the New Forest

The New Forest is known for enchanting landscapes, diverse wildlife, and quaint villages. Established as a royal hunting ground by William the Conqueror in 1079, this ancient woodland has retained much of its medieval charm and continues to captivate visitors with its timeless beauty. Known for the free-roaming ponies, donkeys, cattle, and deer, dating back centuries.

Day 1

We travel to the New Forest National Park making suitable comfort stops including a stop in Winchester for lunch to be obtained. We will be greeted with a cup of tea/coffee at our hotel whilst our luggage is taken to our bedrooms.

Day 2

After breakfast, a scenic tour of the New Forest. First to Lymington, a perfect mix of country, coast and cobbled streets, a wonderful high street, beautiful quay and surrounded by coast and forest. Afterwards to nearby Brockenhurst village, known for its wandering ponies and picturesque streets. Our last visit is charming Lyndhurst, often considered the capital of the New Forest, with its own high street full of shops, pubs and cafes.

Day 3

To the historic market town of Ringwood, today is market day* located along the high street. Walk down West Street to view the River Avon from the old three-arched stone bridge or take a stroll in Jubilee Gardens. This afternoon we visit Burley, a quaint village known for its association with witchcraft in the 1950’s, smuggling and dragons, visit ‘Away With The Fairies’, and ‘Coven of Witches’ gift shops, it’s like stepping back in time!

Day 4

To Portsmouth, the great waterfront city packed with worldclass attractions where we can spend the day visiting the shops, the Spinnaker Tower or the Historic Dockyard (entrances extra).

Day 5

We return home via the South Downs to Guildford for time to purchase lunch.

BEAULIEU INN, BEAULIEU, HAMPSHIRE ***

A former coaching inn near the small village of Beaulieu, surrounded by beautiful open heathland and New Forest wildlife. Expect a warm hospitality and exceptional service to be provided by the friendly team here. All bedrooms are comfortable with a homely feel. The cosy restaurant offers a relaxed atmosphere as does the welcoming bar at the front of the hotel. The hotel also owns the characterful pub next door and there is small indoor heated swimming pool.
