Paignton, South Devon

Day 1

We make our way to Paignton stopping in Salisbury for lunch to be purchased. We then continue to our hotel in Paignton where we receive a warm welcome from the staff at the hotel and are invited to have a cup of tea/coffee whilst our luggage is taken to our room.

Day 2

Free day in Paignton. Opportunity to visit Paignton Zoo (entry extra), one of the South West’s most exciting visitor attractions. With over 2000 animals and countless amazing plants across 80 acres of beautiful, spacious grounds. Or take a walk along the promenade and visit the pier. Walk along the High Street and visit the shops or embark on the Dartmouth Steam Railway travel from Paignton to Dartmouth (extra cost).

Day 3

This morning we head into nearby Torquay. Opportunity to take a land train (extra cost) around the town stopping at some of the tourist spots i.e., the harbour, Torre Abbey and Torquay’s High Street. We can take a walk along the promenade and take in the sea air, or sit outside in one of the many restaurants in the harbour and treat ourself to lunch before our afternoon visit to the quaint fishing village of Brixham. The town has a great range of charming shops to browse.

Day 4

This morning we visit Buckfast Abbey, an attractive Benedictine Monastery nestled in a valley on the edge of Dartmoor. Experience the serenity and beauty of the Abbey. Opportunity to purchase morning refreshments from the Grange Restaurant before we depart for a scenic tour across the Dartmoor National Park to Widecombe in the Moor, a quiet village surrounded by moorland with links that date back to medieval times. Don’t forget to bring your cameras today!

Day 5

We return to home area making suitable comfort stops enroute.
