Did you know that Northumberland has more castles than any other county in England? Many of these castles, including Alnwick,stand guard along our dramatic coast.
Day 1
Travel to our hotel making suitable comfort stops along the way. Arrive at hotel with time to relax before our evening meal.
DDay 2
Today we visit Alnwick Castle & Gardens, one of Britain’s most iconic Castles, which featured as ‘Hogwarts’ in the Harry Potter movies. Be spellbound by The Alnwick Garden, landscaped hedges, and flower beds around the water cascade. The Alnwick Garden includes the Poison Garden, home to a gruesome collection of lethal plants. There are a wide range of food & drink options here for lunch to be purchased.
B, DDay 3
Visit Seahouses, ‘The Gateway to the Farne Islands’, which is a large village on the North Northumberland coast. Here we join a boat tour around the Farne Islands, where we view the true residents, a large colony of Grey Seals. Afterwards, visit the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, lying just a few miles off the coast the Holy Island is cut off twice daily from the rest of the world by fast
moving tides
Day 4
Travel to Cragside House & Gardens, an extraordinary Victorian house with gardens and woodland, for time at leisure. This is one of Northumbria’s most unique attractions, discover the first house in the world to be lit by hydroelectricity. It is crammed full of ingenious gadgets. The gardens are incredible. One of the largest rock gardens in Europe leads down to the Iron Bridge, which in turn leads to the formal garden. Lunch can be purchased in the tea rooms which overlook Tumbleton lake.
B, DDay 5
Return to home area making suitable comfort stops, including time at Boundary Mills, Grantham, for lunch to be purchased.
