Christmas in Winchester
Spend Christmas in Winchester, an unspoilt cathedral city on the edge of the rolling South Downs National Park. It's England's ancient capital and former seat of King Alfred the Great. The friendly staff at Norton Park Hotel will help us to soak up the festive cheer and enjoy some Christmas magic.
Day 1
We make our way to Winchester with a stop on route in Guildford for some free time to explore and to obtain lunch. Upon our arrival at our hotel, we are welcomed with tea/coffee with scones and cakes. We have time to unpack and freshen up before dinner. After dinner there is a Film Corner in the hotel showing films each night throughout our stay.
DDay 2
Christmas Eve
This morning we travel a short distance into Winchester, there are many shops to browse, or to take a look inside Winchester Cathedral where many Kings have been laid to rest, as well as Jane Austen. We have time here to purchase lunch in one of Winchester's many cafes or restaurants. This afternoon we return to our hotel where we can enjoy some tea/coffee and cakes. We have time to relax before our pre-dinner drinks reception with canapes, followed by our evening meal. There is live entertainment for us tonight.
Day 3
Christmas Day
Merry Christmas! Spend the morning at leisure. Opportunity to use the hotel leisure facilities, relax or walk the hotel grounds. Enjoy a pre-lunch drinks reception followed by our 5-course Christmas lunch. Afterwards, we can watch the Kings speech with tea/coffee and Christmas cake. Tonight, if we still have room, there is a light evening buffet dinner followed by a quiz hosted by the hotel.
Day 4
Boxing Day
We take a scenic drive into the New Forest, via Brockenhurst and Lyndhurst. We return to our hotel for a 3-course lunch before we return to our coach taking us to Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth. There are plenty of shops to browse the Boxing Day sales, or perhaps visit the Spinnaker Tower, a 170-meter high observation tower offering spectacular views (extra cost). Afterwards, we return to our hotel for pre-dinner drinks followed by a Gala Dinner. Tonight, there is live entertainment by the hotel’s DJ.
Day 5
We depart our hotel after breakfast and make our way to Milestones Living Museum. From cobbled streets to a seaside pier, teddy bears, vintage vehicles, an operating pub, 1940’s sweet shop and more, there is so much to see under one roof! Time to purchase lunch here and take in the ambience of it all before returning home.
