With a visit to wonderful Weisbaden and Rudesheim this weekend will truly get you into the spirit of Christmas. You will sure to take back some special memories. The friendly staff at our hotel love looking after us and there is always a very warm welcome from the owners.
Day 1
Travel to Rudesheim making suitable comfort stops along the way. Arrive at the hotel with time to freshen up before our evening meal.
DDay 2
2024 - After breakfast we travel to nearby Wiesbaden for the town’s impressive market which takes place at the historic Schlossplatz, surrounded by impressive buildings giving the market a unique atmosphere. Its elegant architecture and cultural wealth provides the perfect backdrop for this enchanting market. The shops are wonderful to visit, all traditionally decorated with that special German feel. There are many restaurants to purchase lunch. We return to our hotel with time to relax before our evening meal.
2025 - After breakfast, we head to nearby Mainz, home to one of Germany's most charming festive markets set against the picturesque backdrop of Mainz's historic old town and centred around the grand Mainz Cathedral. Wander through beautifully decorated stalls offering holiday cheer, traditional crafts, and seasonal treats. Discover an array of handcrafted gifts, from delicate ornaments and wooden toys to intricate candles and festive decorations. The scent of mulled wine, roasted chestnuts, and freshly baked gingerbread fills the air, adding to the cosy, magical atmosphere. We return to the hotel with time to relax before our evening meal.
Day 3
We travel along the scenic Rhine, passing many picturesque castles on our way to Koblenz. The Christmas market here is set across several squares in the heart of Koblenz's historic town centre, with the main area located around the Altstadt (Old Town) near the Deutsches Eck, where the Rhine and Moselle rivers meet. This beautiful setting creates a magical atmosphere for the festivities. The market boasts over 100 wooden stalls, offering everything from artisan crafts, festive decorations, and handmade jewellery to gourmet food and seasonal treats. Tonight, after dinner, join Karen at 'The International' in the lively Drosselgasse for a traditional Rüdesheim Coffee, made with local Asbach brandy. There is sure to be music and laughter here for a night of fun.
B, DDay 4
Today, we enjoy a free day in Rüdesheim. There are many Christmas Markets in Germany, but the pretty historic town of Rüdesheim has a special Christmas Market called the Christmas Market of Nations, or Rüdesheimer Weihnachtsmarkt der Nationen. There are over 120 stalls representing the Christmas traditions from 12 nations. The hotel is very well situated for us to explore everything on offer in Rüdesheim.
B, DDay 5
After breakfast we retrace our outward journey, making suitable comfort stops and arrive back home early evening.

Situated just a 2-minute walk from the banks of the River Rhine in Rüdesheim am Rhein, this hotel boasts a terrace overlooking the historic Old Town. Enjoy regional dishes from the area and the hotel’s wine tavern serves up a selection of local wines. Please note the lift goes to all floors but there are 15 wide steps to get to the lift. The Twin-Bedded Rooms are not with separate beds, they are German doubles with separate mattresses and blankets, but within the same bed frame.
