Yorkshire is known for its outstanding gardens, scenery, popular authors, such as James Herriot, magnificent country houses and traditional spa towns. A region that is always inspiring and an admired destination. We stay in Harrogate, nestled in the heart of North Yorkshire and often referred to as “The English Spa”, renowned for its rich history, Victorian elegance, and picturesque surroundings.

Day 1

We depart home area and make our way to the mediaeval picturesque town of Newark for lunch to be obtained. Time here to look around the many quaint shops before continuing to our hotel in Harrogate.

Day 2

Morning free to enjoy the delights of Harrogate, try the famous Betty’s Tea Rooms, the perfect place for a morning coffee. Take a walk around the many elegant shops or visit Valley Gardens, perfect for leisurely walks amidst stunning floral displays and historic structures. This afternoon visit RHS Garden Harlow Carr, one of the four public gardens run by the Royal Horticultural Society with a delightful blend of formal gardens, woodland areas, and innovative displays.

Day 3

Today we travel to the market town of Thirsk and step inside ‘The World of James Herriot’. See where his famous vet lived, worked and wrote the incredibly successful series of books including ‘All Creatures Great & Small’. After time here a scenic drive towards Ripon with magnificent cathedral, through Nidderdale, An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Grassington, before returning to our hotel.

Day 4

Today we visit the magnificent Harewood House, set in 100 acres of gardens with plants from all over the world in a landscape created by Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown. Learn about the Lascelles family and life below stairs, the splendid grounds includes the Terrace, Lakeside, Walled and Bird Gardens, home to over 40 species of birds from around the world.

Day 5

We depart our hotel and return to home area stopping in delightful Stamford for lunch to be obtained.
