There are so many companies that offer reviews, from Google
to TripAdvisor, Trustpilot to Trusted Reviews. Sometimes they
are conflicting, we think it is worthwhile just talking about 2
of them
Google and TripAdvisor To find out where to go and how
to find a simple solution to answer the simple question, is
this hotel good enough for me?
In this quick read, we want to go deeper behind the dots
and stars.
What weight do we give to reviews?
The statistics:
93% of people will read a review before making a
purchase
43% of people will tell someone about a positive
experience
95% of people will tell someone about a negative
experience!
With so many reviews online, it can be challenging to know
which ones are trustworthy. From the statistics above, we can
see we are maybe more likely to see 50% more negative reviews
that positive ones, so bear that in mind when making a
decision.
Select the reviews that apply to you
It is worth getting a mix of reviews when looking at a specific
venue, hotel, restaurant, etc. Google is the biggest source,
look for most recent reviews and ones from people with similar
interests to you.
This isnt so easy to do, but this is where TripAdvisor
works well. You can narrow down reviews on TripAdvisor to
people within a similar category to you.
You might not want the best waterslide at your hotel, or
somewhere for the toddlers to blow off steam.
So, it is always worth narrowing your research down to what
matters to you.
Get some balance
Reading a mix of positive reviews and negative reviews will
offer a balanced perspective. Usually, the middle ground the 3
stars will offer a more broad and honest perspective.
It is easy to get lost in this or take it reviews on face
value.
The way we like to select our hotels and venues is based on our
client feedback unless it is somewhere new.
Reviews can add value to. Some people like to let you know what
they did and how they got the most out of their visit and this
can help you understand a place better from a real person that
has been there before.
