Day 1
We depart home area and make our way to the mediaeval picturesque town of Newark for lunch to be obtained.
DDay 2
Today, we visit Whitby, a coastal town known for Whitby Abbey, the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s 'Dracula'. Dating back to the 7th century, the Abbey offers panoramic views, and nearby is St. Mary’s Church from the 12th century. To reach them, climb the famous 199 steps. Whitby also features shops, the jet gemstone loved by Queen Victoria, and a museum in Captain James Cook’s 17thcentury lodging (Entry extra). We’ll return via Robin Hood’s Bay, with its narrow, winding streets and charming cottages.
B, DDay 3
This morning to Scarborough, opportunity for some retail therapy and obtain refreshments before our afternoon visit to Eden Camp where we discover a unique and immersive museum dedicated to modern history, particularly the events of the 20th century. Set in a World War II prisoner of war camp offering a fascinating insight into life during the war years.
B, DDay 4
Today we travel across the North York Moors National Park and visit the small town of Pickering, browse this delightful village with its tea rooms and unique individual shops before we continue to Goathland, the Station, used as ‘Hogsmeade’ station in the Harry Potter films. Goathland was also a filming location for ‘Heartbeat’. Opportunity to purchase afternoon tea in one of the tea rooms before returning to our hotel.
B, DDay 5
Today we return to home area stopping at Boundary Mills, Grantham, a department store where everything is under one roof! There is a café on the ground floor, a restaurant on the first floor
