Embark on an enriching holiday that explores the natural beauty, historical charm, and cultural heritage of Derbyshire and the Peak District. A delightful blend of scenic landscapes, fascinating museums, grand estates, and quaint market towns.

Day 1

Depart home area and make our way to the picturesque and historic market town of Newark for lunch to be obtained, before continuing to our hotel in Sheffield.

Day 2

Today, after breakfast, visit the historic market town of Buxton, renowned for its healing waters and Pavilion Gardens set in 23 acres of Victorian landscaping. Continue to Lyme Park and step back in time to the Edwardian age. Enjoy the house with its lavish interiors, beautiful gardens and the enchanting lake where a certain Mr Darcy appeared in the BBC’s production of Pride and Prejudice.

Day 3

Travel to Crich and to the Tramway Village, a lovingly restored period village that is also home to the National Tramway Museum. Exhibitions bring to life the history of the tram, visitors can ride on the restored tramways, view the workshop, an old fashioned sweet shop and a restored public house. Afterwards, to the pretty town of Ashbourne with its winding cobbled streets, welcoming Market Place and handsome Tudor and Georgian heritage.

Day 4

A leisurely drive through the Peak District, passing the Derwent Dam and Ladybower Reservoir, then the highlight, a visit to the magnificent Chatsworth House and Gardens, the splendid home of the Devonshire family, which has appeared in many period dramas. See the Emperor Fountain, which has reached a height of 300ft! The State Rooms, featuring lavish decorations, fine furniture and artistic treasures. The Library is a stunning with over 17,000 books. The garden is a blend of formal and informal landscapes designed by Capability Brown.

Day 5

Depart for home area stopping enroute at the lovely town of Stamford where many period dramas have been filmed. There are many eateries to obtain lunch.

Located in a pleasant leafy suburb of Sheffield, this 4 star hotel has a lovely ornamental lake and views across to the Derbyshire Dales. Built around a 19th century Hall with modern extensions, the hotel is a good base from which to tour the region. There is a lift to all floors. All bedrooms are ensuite with tea/coffee making facilities and TV and Wi-Fi. Hotel leisure facilities include an indoor swimming pool, sauna and gym.
