Day 1

Travel to Paignton via historic Salisbury.

Day 2

Enjoy stunning coastal scenery on a steam train to Kingswear, catch the ferry to the charming town of Dartmouth with narrow streets and colourful harbour, before a cruise along the River Dart, passing wooded valleys and elegant villages returning by train to Paignton.

Morning visit to the fishing village of Brixham, full of maritime heritage and a busy working harbour, before returning to Paignton for free time.

Discover clifftop views at Babbacombe and visit its famous model Village and Bygones (entries extra), then continue to elegant Torquay.

Travelling south via the historic cathedral city of Salisbury, your holiday begins with a taste of English heritage before arriving on the stunning Devon coast.

 

A highlight of the holiday is the unforgettable journey with the Dartmouth Steam Railway. Travel along one of Britain's most scenic railway routes between Paignton and Kingswear, enjoying spectacular coastal views, rolling countryside and glimpses of the River Dart estuary.

 

From Kingswear, cross by ferry to the beautiful harbour town of Dartmouth. Wander through narrow streets lined with independent shops, admire colourful waterfront buildings and soak up the atmosphere of one of Devon's most attractive towns.

 

Continue with a relaxing cruise on the River Dart, passing wooded valleys, elegant riverside homes and picturesque villages whilst enjoying some of the finest scenery in the South West.

 

Visit the traditional fishing port of Brixham, famous for its maritime heritage, colourful harbour and busy fishing fleet. Explore the waterfront, browse local shops or simply enjoy watching the activity around the harbour.

 

Take in the spectacular clifftop views at Babbacombe, one of the English Riviera’s most scenic locations. Guests may choose to visit the famous Babbacombe Model Village or Bygones before continuing to the elegant resort of Torquay.

 

Known as the heart of the English Riviera, Torquay offers attractive gardens, a palm-lined seafront, stylish marina and excellent shopping opportunities.

 

On the return journey, visit the historic Dorset hilltop town of Shaftesbury, famous for its picturesque Gold Hill and beautiful countryside views.
