Day 1

Depart from Gatwick and fly to Bari. Upon arrival, transfer to the Grand Hotel La Chiusa di Chietri, nestled amongst the peaceful Puglian countryside.

Day 2

An included excursion to the UNESCO-listed town of Alberobello, famous for its unique trulli houses with their distinctive conical roofs. Enjoy a guided tour through charming streets before having time to browse the local shops, sample regional delicacies, or simply soak up the atmosphere.

Day 3

Today we travel to the remarkable city of Matera, one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in the world. Discover the famous Sassi cave dwellings, ancient churches, and fascinating history as we explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site before returning to the hotel.

Day 4

Explore two of Puglia’s most beautiful coastal towns as we visit Polignano a Mare and Monopoli. Admire the dramatic limestone cliffs, stroll through picturesque old towns, browse the boutique shops, and enjoy free time to relax with a coffee or gelato overlooking the sparkling Adriatic Sea before returning to the hotel.

Day 5

Today we visit the beautiful hilltop town of Ostuni, affectionately known as the ‘White City’. Wander through its maze of whitewashed streets, discover charming piazzas and artisan shops, and take in spectacular views across the surrounding olive groves and coastline.

Day 6

Our final full-day excursion takes us to the elegant city of Lecce, often referred to as the ‘Florence of the South’ thanks to its magnificent Baroque architecture. Time to explore the beautiful squares, impressive churches, and lively cafés, with opportunity to sample local specialities.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for our return flight home.

The hotel combines modern facilities with traditional Puglian character and is ideally located for discovering some of the region's most popular destinations. Alberobello, famous for its distinctive trulli houses, is particularly close by, while the historic towns and Adriatic coastline are within easy reach.

Discovering Puglia

This holiday provides an opportunity to experience some of the highlights of Puglia and neighbouring Basilicata. From the unique trulli of Alberobello and the ancient cave dwellings of Matera to the whitewashed streets of Ostuni and the Baroque architecture of Lecce, each excursion offers something different.

The coastal towns of Polignano a Mare and Monopoli provide a chance to enjoy the Adriatic scenery, with picturesque old streets, attractive harbours and cafés. There is also free time during the excursions to explore at leisure and sample some of the local cuisine.

Dining

Accommodation is provided on a Dinner, Bed & Breakfast basis, with breakfast and an evening meal included at the hotel. This provides a relaxed way to enjoy the hotel's facilities while also allowing opportunities to sample the local restaurants and cafés during the daytime.

This holiday includes guided tours and visits to historic towns where streets can be uneven and there are slopes, steps and cobbled surfaces. Some destinations involve considerable walking and may require standing for periods of time.
