Day 1

Travel to Morecambe, known as the setting for The Bay.

Day 2

Enjoy a steam train journey from Haverthwaite to Lakeside, running 3.5 miles through the Leven Valley on the southern tip of Lake Windermere, followed by a 40-minute cruise on lake Windermere to Bowness.

Visit Levens Hall, renowned for its elegant interiors and world-famous topiary gardens. Then to Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway for a scenic journey from the coast at Ravenglass into the heart of the Lake District at Dalegarth.

Visit Windermere before travelling over the dramatic Kirkstone Pass via Ullswater to Penrith, a historic market town with inviting shops and cafés.

A highlight of the holiday is the nostalgic steam railway journey aboard the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, travelling through the picturesque Leven Valley between Haverthwaite and Lakeside at the southern tip of Lake Windermere. Continue with a relaxing cruise across England’s largest lake to the popular resort of Bowness-on-Windermere, surrounded by stunning mountain scenery.

 

Visit the magnificent Levens Hall, renowned for its elegant historic interiors and world-famous topiary gardens, regarded as some of the finest in Europe. The beautifully shaped hedges and formal gardens provide a truly unique experience.

 

Another memorable railway journey awaits aboard the narrow-gauge Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, affectionately known as “La’al Ratty”. Travel from the coastal village of Ravenglass into the heart of the Lake District at Dalegarth, enjoying spectacular views of mountains, rivers and open countryside along the route.

 

Explore the attractive town of Windermere before travelling across the dramatic Kirkstone Pass and alongside beautiful Ullswater en route to the historic market town of Penrith, known for its welcoming shops and cafés.
