Norway’s Lakeland Adventure

Fully escorted coach tour to Norway!

A breathtaking holiday that combines the tranquil beauty of Norway’s countryside with the charm of European travel. This holiday traverses through the picturesque countries of northern Europe and includes visits to the historic Telemark Canal and the Vemork Museum, rounded off with a visit to Oslo, Norway’s capital.

Day 1

We depart home area and make our way to Dover for our short ferry crossing to Calais. We continue through France, Belgium and into the Netherlands making suitable comfort stops and arrive at our overnight hotel the Postillion Hotel Utrecht Bunnik with time to relax before our evening meal.

Day 2

After breakfast we continue northwards through the Netherlands, Germany and into Denmark making suitable comfort stops and arrive at our overnight hotel, Scandic Kolding Hotel. Time to purchase a pre-dinner drink before our evening meal.

Day 3

After an early breakfast we proceed north through Jutland to Hirtshals for the fast Color Line ferry to Larvik, Norway (approx. 4 hrs). Relax on board, sample some refreshments and enjoy the ships facilities. We arrive in Larvik and travel inland to enjoy a first taste of the pristine scenery for which Norway is so rightly famed. Travel through wonderful Lakeland scenery, to arrive at Vrádal for our 5 night stay at the Straand Hotel.

Day 4

A full day excursion featuring the magnificent Hardangervidda Plateau, one of Europe’s largest mountain plateaus home to stunning landscapes, diverse wildlife and Europe’s largest stock of reindeer. We include a visit to the fascinating World War II sabotage site at Vemork, now a museum, to learn about the partisan mission to destroy the Nazi’s efforts to create ‘the bomb’. We round off the day by crossing the Telemark canal before arriving back to the hotel.

Day 5

A day at leisure in Vrådal. The hotel has great facilities including a large panoramic terrace, lounge, indoor swimming pool and a wonderful garden that sweeps down from the hotel to the lake shore and beach.

Day 6

Today we enjoy the West Telemark round coach trip. We visit Dalen, surrounded by steep mountains, and the starting point of the Telemark Canal, and continue to The West Telemark Museum, one of Norway’s largest open air museums showcasing the rich cultural heritage, history and traditional crafts of the area, and also includes the 13th century Eidsborg Stave Church.

Day 7

Today we include a boat trip on the Telemark canal, considered one of the World’s most beautiful waterways. We include a journey on one of the historic vessels between Kviteseid and Lunde. This cruise of around 3 hours provides an opportunity to relax and enjoy the wonderful views, as we pass through lakes, narrow channels and 2 locks. We return to our hotel and enjoy a last evening meal here tonight.

Day 8

After breakfast, we depart Vrådal and travel east with a short photo stop at Heddal, Norway’s largest Stave Church. Continue to Oslo, Norway’s charming maritime capital, offering a unique Scandinavian atmosphere and a beautiful city centre with many green spaces as well as wide range of monuments, shops and historic buildings. We leave Oslo late afternoon and travel south to Horten for dinner and our overnight stay at the Thon Hotel Horten.

Day 9

We depart our hotel early morning for return fast Color Line ferry crossing from Larvik to Hirtshals, Denmark (taking approx. 4hrs). We travel through Denmark and into Germany making a suitable comfort stop and arrive at our overnight hotel, Hotel Schmücker-Hof, Norderstedt with time to relax before our evening meal.

Day 10

After breakfast we travel through Germany, through the Netherlands and to Belgium, making suitable comfort stops and arrive at our overnight hotel, Mercure Antwerp City South, with time to relax before our evening meal.

Day 11

After breakfast we make our way to Bruges for free time before we make our way back to Calais for our return ferry crossing homewards.
