Join us on this fabulous holiday staying at the 4 star Forest Pines Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort set amongst 190 acres of woodland in the Yorkshire and Humberside countryside. You can relax in the spa or tee off from their spectacular award-winning 27 hole championship golf course, plunge into the indoor pool or just relax in the hotels bar/lounge area. During this holiday we visit historic Lincoln, Louth on market day, Gainsborough Old Hall, North Lincolnshire Museum and Horncastle.

Day 1

We depart home area and make our way to Stamford for lunch. Stamford has been used as a filming location for many period dramas due to its Georgian architecture and charming streets. There are many restaurants and tea rooms to choose from. We then continue to our hotel with time to relax before our evening meal.

Day 2

This morning, after breakfast, we visit North Lincolnshire Museum where we discover the history of North Lincolnshire. Step back in time through these fascinating hands-on displays. Learn about some of North Lincolnshire's amazing objects and stories. Explore the geology, local history and archaeology galleries, discover how history has changed the landscape. Afterwards we visit attractive Epworth, the birthplace of John and Charles Wesley, the founders of the Methodist Movement. This town is rich in traditions and history, lining the pretty centre are quaint shops and places to eat.

Day 3

Today we visit Louth which is full of charm and character that typifies the county's market towns. Today is market day, so take the opportunity to browse the market stalls as well as the many independent shops and cafes. The town stands on the threshold of the Lincolnshire Wolds, Area of Outstanding Beauty. We then head to Horncastle, a hot spot for antiques and artisan shops as well as galleries, award-winning coffee houses, restaurants and cosy traditional pubs. We return to our hotel afterwards travelling through Lincolnshire's Wolds National Landscape.

Day 4

Today we visit Gainsborough Old Hall, a building that reflects over five hundred years of history in its walls. From paupers to princes the history of an English market town can be read through the hall's development. We uncover the magnificent Great hall before wandering winding corridors and up dead-end stairs! See how feasts were prepared in one of the best surviving mediaeval kitchens in the country. Opportunity to purchase refreshments in the café set in the 15th century parlour. Afterwards we continue to the city of Lincoln with opportunity to visit Lincoln Cathedral which has one of the last two surviving Wren libraries and was the world's tallest building for over two centuries. Scenes in the Da Vinci Code were filmed in the cathedrals Chapter House. Opportunity to visit Lincoln Castle, home to one of the four surviving original copies of the Magna Carta and made a prominent TV appearance in the popular historical drama 'Downton Abbey'. Lincoln's High Street is home to over 300 shops and restaurants and cafes, so you really can shop until you drop!

Day 5

We depart home area stopping in Boundary Mills, Grantham where everything is under one roof. There is a café downstairs and a restaurant on the first floor. There are many departments selling reduced homeware, clothing, shoes and accessories.

This 4 star hotel has a health club with a 18 yard indoor swimming pool, fitness centre, steam room, sauna and whirlpool. The treatment room offers massages, facials and manicures (extra cost and to be pre-booked). The Grill Restaurant offers homely dining for your breakfast and evening meals. You can purchase a snack from the Lounge Bar or treat yourself to an afternoon tea in the Pine Bar.
