Koln Carnival, Germany

New for 2025!

Come with us to the largest and world-famous Koln Carnival, a wonderful festival that draws millions of the visitors to the city every winter. During Carnival weekend, people celebrate, sing and dance in various restaurants and pubs. During this time normal life is suspended throughout Cologne and the Prince Carnival rules.

Day 1

We depart home area and our crossing to Calais. We then continue through France, Belgium and into Germany making suitable comfort stops. We arrive at our hotel late afternoon. The rest of the afternoon and evening is free to enjoy. Next to hotel is one of the City’s squares (the Heumarkt) where there are plenty of restaurants and pubs to obtain a meal. Take the opportunity to try a Kölsch, a traditional locally brewed beer.

Day 2

Tulip Sunday
Today features school parades and local community parades as well as singing and good cheer. It’s incredible how much enthusiasm Carnival generates in Cologne!

Day 3

Rose Monday
The parade has been rolling since 1823 - with floats, foot groups, dance groups and music bands - led by the “Blaue Funken” in the Cologne tradition. With a length of around 8 kilometres, the Rosenmontag parade covers a larger distance than its route. Around 300,000 tonnes of sweets change hands here in a perfect throwing technique.

Day 4

Shrove Tuesday We depart our hotel and return to home area retracing our outward journey.
