Journey Through Cornwall's Past & Present

Visit the picturesque north coast of Cornwall, where we stay at the Kilbirnie Hotel in Newquay, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean where there is evening entertainment every night. Visit Falmouth, home to the world’s third largest natural harbour and boats some of Cornwall’s best views. Enjoy a self-guided visit to the award-winning Healey’s Cyder Farm where you can sample many of Healey’s products. Visit Truro, Cornwall’s ‘capital’ on market day. We also visit the famous Jamaica Inn and the TV setting for Beyond Paradise, picturesque ‘Looe’. A holiday not to be missed!

Day 1

Depart home area making suitable refreshment stops. Time to freshen up before we meet up in the bar for a glass of Cornish cider before dinner.

Day 2

Today we visit the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth where we will learn about the unbreakable ties between the people of Cornwall and the briny blue. Explore 15 galleries over five floors. (There are lifts to each floor). Talk to the boat builders in the workshop and visit the Lookout Tower to take in breath-taking views of the harbour. There is a cafe to purchase refreshments. Afterwards we visit Falmouth's bustling town centre, where there are little spots along the high street where you can glimpse the sea only metres away. There are many lovely, individual shops to browse, restaurants to purchase lunch and also a superb number of art galleries selling the work of many local artists. We return to our hotel for an included cream tea with time to relax afterwards or make use of the hotel's leisure facilities before your evening meal followed by an evening of entertainment.

Day 3

This morning, we visit Truro, Cornwall's County town and only city. The city is lined with historic buildings and architecture which revolve around Truro cathedral. Today is market day, so opportunity to look around the many stalls. Visit the indoor Pannier. Truro has many shops to browse and restaurants and cafes to obtain lunch before your afternoon visit to nearby Healey's Cider Farm. Healey's is an award-winning Cornish Cyder producer and visitor attraction. Their farm is home to Rattler Cyder and Cornwall's only distillery. Take a self-guided tour through the museum, distillery, and cellars where you will discover exactly how their Cyder comes to life. Experience traditional Cornish jam making. Afterwards enter the Sampling room, the perfect place to sample 60 plus Healey's products, including cyder, wine, spirits, juice and more! Try them the Healey way! If you require any more refreshments, there is a café on site. We return to our hotel for our evening meal followed by yet another great night of entertainment.

Day 4

Our day starts with a visit to the famous Jamaica inn, Cornwall's most famous smuggling inn, on the Bodmin Moors, well known as the setting for Daphne du Maurier's novel of the same name, published in 1936. The young author was inspired to write her novel in 1930 after she and a friend became lost in fog whilst out riding on the moors and were led back by their horses to safety at the inn. There is lovely gift shop, farm shop and a restaurant to obtain morning refreshments before our visit to enchanting Looe, the setting for the recent Beyond Paradise TV Show. Visit the picturesque fishing harbour with many delightful individual shops and plenty of cafes and restaurants offering the local catch of the day including crab! We return to our hotel afterwards for our evening mal and entertainment.

KILBIRNIE HOTEL, NEWQUAY ***

Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, this casual hotel is an 11 minute walk from two beaches and the shops. All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, and feature WIFI access, TV’s and tea and coffee making facilities. There is an informal restaurant overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and a spacious lounge/ bar area. Amenities include heated indoor pool, plus a gym, a sauna and a jacuzzi.
