Hastings offers seaside attractions as well as great shopping facilities. The old town is full of charm with half-timbered houses, narrow streets and passageways, known locally as twittens. It was once named as the new Portobello Road-on-Sea by The Times and offers a great collection of antique shops and vintage galleries.
Heres our recommendation of what to see and do whilst visiting...
Hastings Old Town - Step back in time as you explore the narrow streets of Hastings Old Town, packed with independent shops, antique stores, and traditional pubs.
Wander along the famous twittens (historic alleyways), discover unique boutiques, and soak up the towns quirky and creative atmosphere.
Dont miss the rows of traditional fishing huts along the seafront a reminder of Hastings long fishing heritage.
Hastings Seafront & Pier - Its the perfect spot to relax, grab an ice cream, or simply enjoy the fresh sea air.
Enjoy a stroll along the seafront, where youll find a classic mix of beach views, amusements, and places to eat.
Take a walk along Hastings Pier, a beautifully restored Victorian pier offering fantastic views out to sea.
East Hill Cliff Railway & Views - A great option for those wanting a slightly different perspective of Hastings.
Take a ride on the East Hill Cliff Railway, the steepest funicular railway in the UK.
At the top, youll be rewarded with stunning views over the town, coastline, and countryside, as well as access to scenic walking paths
Battle of Hastings Heritage, 1066
Hastings is forever linked with the famous Battle of 1066, and the town embraces its historic significance.
While the actual battlefield is just outside the town, you can still soak up the history and atmosphere throughout the area, with museums and references bringing the story to life.
