Bruges City Break

Bruges, located in the Flemish region of Belgium, is a city that seems to have been plucked from the pages of a fairy tale. Known for its well-preserved medieval architecture, intricate canals, and vibrant cultural scene, Bruges offers visitors a glimpse into the past while providing all the comforts and attractions of a modern European city. Bruges’ network of canals has earned it the nickname “Venice of the North.” These waterways, lined with charming houses and lush greenery, provide a unique perspective of the city. A canal boat tour is a quintessential Bruges experience, offering a serene journey through the heart of the city and highlighting its picturesque bridges and hidden corners. Bruges is rich in museums that cater to diverse interests. The Groeningemuseum houses an impressive collection of Flemish and Belgian art, including works by Jan van Eyck and Hieronymus Bosch. For a taste of the city’s brewing heritage, visit the Bruges Beer Museum, where you can learn about the history of Belgian beer and sample a variety of local brews. Chocolate lovers will delight in the Choco-Story Museum, which delves into the history and production of Belgian chocolate.

Day 1

Depart from home and catch the Ferry to Calais (From Dover), and head to our hotel to drop off our luggage, there are plenty of restaurants close by to purchase our evening meal.

Days 2 & 3

These two days are at leisure. Opportunity to take a boat trip on the canal, visit one of many chocolate and lace shops, obtain lunch or dinner in the Markt, an historical town square with plenty of restaurants to tempt you. Visit the De Halve Maan Brewery where five generations have brewed beer at this location. Visit the Basilica of the Holy Blood, which is 1,000 years old. The chapel contains a phial that reputedly contains Christ's blood brought back from the crusades (all entries extra).

Day 4

After breakfast at your hotel, there is more time to explore the city before returning home.
