COACH HOLIDAY ITINERARY
This holiday will be fully escorted; there will be a continental breakfast and bucks fizz on the morning of departure, newspapers, unlimited free tea and coffee throughout your outward and return journey and a few more surprises in store for you all...
DAY 1 We head to our overnight hotel on the boarders of Scotland making suitable comfort stops along the way including somewhere suitable to purchase lunch. Arrive at the hotel in Gretna with time to freshen up before our evening meal.
DAY 2 After breakfast we check out and travel to Scotland. This afternoon we visit the Dalwhinnie Distillery to take part in a guided tour, followed by a tasting, which will give an explanation of the traditional art of malt whisky distilling. We arrive at the Highlander Hotel late afternoon in time to relax before our evening meal which includes a small glass of wine.
DAY 3 After breakfast we travel by coach for a journey to Kyle of Lochalsh situated on the west coast of Scotland, through some breath-taking scenery via Laggar, Roybridge, Laggan, Ivergarry, Ratagan, and Invershiel. There will be free time in the Kyle of Lochalsh to purchase lunch and take in the wonderful views across to the spectacular Isle of Skye before boarding our train to Inverness. The views from the window on this impressive 80-mile journey are worth the fare alone. Pass along the southern bank of the Beauly Firth, we will continue on our route passing wild mountain scenery, lochs, glorious dramatic rocky shores and even the location for the TV series Hamish Macbeth, Plockton. Our coach awaits us at Inverness to return us back to the hotel for our evening meal
DAY 4 After breakfast we begin in Aviemore and travel back in time on the Strathspey Steam Railway. At the start of our journey we are treated to the stunning backdrop of the Cairngorms Mountains as we head off North East on our 10-mile journey, taking in glorious views of heather-clad moors, the ancient Caledonian forest and the fast-flowing Spey River before we reach Broomhill. Afterwards visit the delightful Grantown on Spey set in the Cairngorm National Park for lunch to be purchased before returning to Aviemore by coach for a ride on the UK’s highest funicular railway up the Cairngorm Mountain. We then make our way back to the hotel for our evening meal.
DAY 5 After breakfast we have our third and final rail journey on the Jacobite Steam Railway, described as the greatest railway journey in the world, which takes us on a 42-mile return stretch of the wonderful West Highland Line from Fort William to Mallaig. We travel along the bank of Loch Eil before experiencing the iconic curve of the Glenfinnan Viaduct’s magnificent 21 arches. After enjoying the stark beauty of Lochs Eilt, Ailort and Nan Uamh, we have spectacular views of the Isle of Skye. The bustling port of Mallaig is a fascinating place where we can simply relax and soak up the atmosphere of the remote working fishing port, or we may decide to explore the heritage centre and walk the Mallaig Circuit to witness the spectacular views across the harbour.
DAY 6 After breakfast we check out of our main stay hotel and head back to the boarder for our overnight stay, visiting Stirling on route for lunch to be purchased. We arrive at our overnight hotel ready for our evening meal.
DAY 7 After breakfast we travel back to home area making suitable comfort stops along the way as well as allowing time for lunch to be purchased.
