COACH HOLIDAY ITINERARY
DAY 1 Today we travel to the Hallmark Hotel in Hull making suitable comfort stops along the way, including a stop in Lincoln for lunch to be purchased. We arrive at the hotel where we have a cup of tea/coffee on arrival as well as some tasty cakes. We have time to freshen up before our evening meal.
DAY 2 After breakfast we travel to York where we board our cruise. The York City Cruise is both an entertaining and informative tour of the River Ouse which enables us to admire the scenery from the comfort of the enclosed saloon or the upper deck. Take home fascinating facts about the incredible history of York and its river from the live, sightseeing commentary delivered by the local skippers. Learn about York’s famous history of flooding and its previous prosperity as an inland port, all while sailing along the very river that brought the Romans and the Vikings to this beautiful city. Afterwards, we have free time in York to purchase lunch and explore the city. Opportunity to visit the National Railway Museum (free entrance – donations are welcome). This is the home of iconic locomotives and boasts an unrivalled collection of engineering brilliance. We arrive back at the hotel in time to freshen up before our evening meal.
DAY 3 After breakfast we join our driver to spend the day in Hull, the 2017 City of Culture. The cobbled streets of the city’s Old Town transports visitors back to days gone by when Hull was trading with the medieval Hanseatic League. We can visit the free entry Museums Quarter to track Hull’s course through the history books. Hull is also home to the spectacular aquarium ‘The Deep’ (price not included, approx. £12.50pp) which boasts a whopping 3,500 fish including a pair of Green Sawfish, sharks, rays and a colony of Gentoo penguins. There are many restaurants and cafes in Hull for lunch to be purchased. Take a stroll along the Marina before returning to the hotel with time to relax before our evening meal.
DAY 4 After breakfast travel to Harrogate, Yorkshire’s most elegant town bursting with historic buildings. It’s a great shopping destination offering an elegant mix of boutiques and galleries as well as a selection of designer shops and high street stores. Attractions in Harrogate include the Royal Pump Rooms Museum (price not included, approx. £3.75pp), which was built in 1842 to provide shelter for the towns affluent visitors as they took the famous waters; and the Mercer Art Gallery (free admission) which is home to Harrogate district’s fine art collection – 2000 works of art, mainly from the 19th and 20th centuries. Harrogate is renowned for its cafes and tea rooms. A visit here would not be complete without stopping at the famous Betty’s Tea Room, established almost 100 years ago in 1919. A luxury Lady Betty Afternoon Tea is a truly unforgettable experience. Set in the historic and elegant surroundings of the Imperial Suit the menu is inspired by Betty’s best-loved patisserie and favourite café tea rooms specialties. Enjoy a delightful selection of sandwiches made with breads from the award-winning Craft Bakery, delicious savouries, two types of freshly baked scones – Yorkshire Lavender and Sultana – and an exquisite range of irresistible miniature cakes. We return to the hotel with time to freshen up before our evening meal.
DAY 5 After breakfast we return to our home area making suitable comfort stops along the way, including a stop in Peterborough for lunch to be purchased.
