COACH HOLIDAY ITINERARY
DAY 1 We depart our home area and head to the National Trust Emmetts Garden in Sevenoaks. Emmetts Garden is renowned for its marvellous spring colour each year, from the sea of English native bluebells to the 80 species of rhododendron. Around every corner the beautiful blooms are filling the air with sweet scents and blushes of colour. The rock garden truly is a garden for all seasons, but spring has to be when it really shines. Tulip species cover a large area of it, with other smaller blooms creating delightful colour contrasts. Refreshment facilities are available for lunch to be purchased. This afternoon we move on to visit the cathedral city of Canterbury where we have time to discover the medieval centre of cobbled streets and timber-framed houses. The hotel is only a 5-minute drive away so we check into the hotel late afternoon where we have a cup of tea/coffee on arrival followed by our evening meal.
DAY 2 After breakfast we check out of the hotel and travel to Broadstairs, Kent’s quintessential seaside town. Broadstairs is a wonderful mixture of Victorian architecture, hidden cobbled squares, cliff top walks and sandy beaches. We have some free time to explore the area and there are a wealth of inviting cafes and restaurants for lunch to be purchased. Afterwards, we visit Whitstable, a small fishing town famous for its oysters, with a working harbour which is full of history and character. The harbour, constructed in 1831, was the first in the world to be served by a railway. The Crab and Winkle line also carried coal, and linked Canterbury and London via a steam ship from Whitstable harbour. We have time to explore the area boasting lots of charming independent shops before returning to our home area late afternoon.
